Remodel your home with Bowers Plumbing and Remodel in Puyallup!

Remodeling your home can be a real headache. There are so many seemingly small decisions that end up making or breaking the whole project. There are also many big decisions, including who’s going to do the remodeling. Will it be a Do-It-Yourself (DIY) or will you hand it off to a professional company? If you choose the latter, will you go local or commercial? Here is the Bowers Plumbing and Remodel approved guide for choosing the right remodeling company for you.

Many home improvement stores like Lowe’s and The Home Depot offer installation or remodeling services as well as the materials necessary to complete the project. While this may seem like a convenient one-stop-shop for your home needs, there is more to consider.

Going through a corporation has many downsides, including:

-longer turnaround times,

-different crews for every portion of the project,

-out-of-order operations,

-less personable staff, and

-no project manager

Among other points, these companies will try to nickel-and-dime you out of your budget to make sure you’re 100% satisfied with your dream home. Staying on-budget will leave you less satisfied and wishing you’d just done it yourself.

With Bowers Plumbing and Remodel in Puyallup, we strive to ensure 100% satisfaction while staying within your budget. Need more convincing? Going through a local contractor offers:

-free estimates,

-better quality work,

-knowledge and experience,

-no third parties,

-more information about who is working in your home,

-faster turnaround times,

-more personable,

-set project management,

-correct order of operations, and more!

Home Maintenance Tips:

Home Maintenance Tips:

It is very easy to get caught up on work, family, hobbies and the day to day hustle and bustle. Neglecting to do basic home maintenance items are very common but can result in very costly repairs. Our team of professionals highly recommend doing these 10 maintenance suggestions in your home –

1. Water Heater Flush out:

*We recommend flushing out your water heater every 6 – 12 months depending on usage and age of your water heater. Dirt and sediment builds up in your water heater and flushing it out every so often gets rid of the gunk that accumulates. Flushing out your water heater can help eliminate bad smells from stagnant water and reduce energy costs. It also supports the longevity of your water heater. We’d love to get you a quote for this!

2. Tile and Grout Sealing:

*Sealing your grout and tile especially in wet areas like showers and tile flooring in your bathroom helps protect your grout and tile from water penetration, stains, cracking, mold and mildew, etc. It also helps preserve the life of your grout and tile and make it easier to clean regularly. Sealing granite countertops are also highly suggested. We recommend sealing every 6 months to a year.

3. Replace HVAC Air Filters:

*It is important to replace your HVAC filters every 1-3 months to reduce allergens and dust and to improve the efficiency of your HVAC system.

4. Septic Maintenance:

*Not regularly maintaining your septic system can result in thousands of dollars in repairs and/ or possible replacement. It is very important to have basic knowledge of your septic system and keep up on the regular inspections and pump outs. Septic systems need to be pumped out every 2-5 years depending on usage and the size and age of your septic. Septics can back up and cause sewage to come up through your showers, faucets and drain field if they are not regularly pumped out. Using products like “Bio Clean” consistently can help eliminate waste build up in plumbing and septic systems. Do not flush down condoms, tampons, pads, hair, grease, Q-tips, floss or anything else except for septic safe toilet paper, otherwise serious damage can be caused to your septic system. Use sink traps to ensure that food remnants are not washed down the drains. Make sure to call a reputable plumber to inspect your septic system and drain field every year.

5. Gutter Clean out:

*Clean out your gutters twice a year or more, depending on if you live around a lot of trees. Leaves, twigs, dirt, branches, etc. can clog your gutters and cause them to not drain properly and can be a risk

6. Clean your Chimneys:

*Chimneys can build up with dirt, debris, critters nests, etc and can easily catch on fire and can also be a carbon monoxide risk. Having a professional company come out and inspect and clean your chimneys is highly recommended.

7. Re-caulking:

*Re-caulking showers, tubs, windows, doors, backsplashes, etc. can prevent water damage and air drafts from happening. Inspect a couple times a year to make sure that the caulking isn’t cracking or coming apart.

8. Roof Cleaning and Inspections:

*Inspect your roof a few times a year to make sure that shingles are not coming off, or that debris isn’t piling up. Trim back branches and wash your roof so that algae doesn’t build up.

9. Inspect Fire Extinguishers, Smoke Alarms and Carbon Monoxide Detectors. *Make sure that smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors have new batteries and that fire extinguishers are free of cracks, rust and dents. It is recommended that fire extinguishers are to be replaced every 5-10 years.

10. Deck and Fence Sealant:

Wood decks and fences can be subject to mold, rot and decay. Applying a sealant can make sure that these things do not happen and can also prolong the life of the wood.
